Holne Chase Country House Hotel on Dartmoor, Devon is widely regarded as THE most Pet Friendly Hotel to stay at in the UK. The infamous “Batty the Basset Hound”, who was tragically killed by a cow 2 years ago, has had her mantle passed on to Batty Two; the HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTEST and ably assisted Junior; the “boss-eyed basset”, Brulee the yellow Labrador and Dart the naughty Retriever. Together they are available to welcome their canine guests at either Holwell or Holne Chase and take time out to show new friends around their extensive grounds and can even arrange the odd Blind Date!! If “the gang” of 4 are not present at the hotel, Groundsman Michael’s dog Scamp is a welcome companion for a stroll down to the River, but is fairly insatiatable when it comes to stick throwing ! |

Holne Chase is regularly voted the UK's Most Pet Friendly Hotel and over 50% of the hotel guests bring their dogs and positively testify that it is an experience not to be missed, whether you have 4 or 2 legs.
At Holne Chase you and your pets can enjoy "sheer unadulterated luxury and relaxation" (Dogs Today, Feb 2003). The hotel is surrounded by sweeping lawns, wooded valleys, open moorland and miles of the spectacular River Dart which, incidentally offers the best Sea Trout fishing in the West Country. Inside, there is a friendly informality and log fires burn all year.
Rooms and suites are all individual with wonderful views and most have a "Doggie Door" all of their own. Sag bags and towels are thoughtfully left for fido and if you are well connected with “you know who”, you can usually secure some excellent stock to enhance your dog's dinner, and a sausage or two for breakfast. There is even a Doggie Menu ! | There is also the stunningly peaceful Garden Cottage which is located in the grounds and built into the walls of an early Victorian Kitchen Garden. Sleeping 6 with spacious living accommodation too, the cottage opens out onto the beautiful garden itself and is totally private and secure; ideal for dogs and or children. Here you can do your own thing with self catering plus or eat in the hotel.
If your dog has taken a dip in the river and had a roll or two in the woods, fret not, at Holne Chase your dog even has his/her own spa to freshen up in!!
